At the Goat Farm

Today we went to a bunch of different farms. We took one of our neighbor girls Molly with. The farms are all in a remote area on the island and they are all right next to each other. We went to the Frog Farm first. They breed American bullfrogs. They are highly sought after for their medicinal value and they breed about 25 percent of the 2,000 kg of frogs that are are used for daily consumption!!!! YUM They had massive boxes filled with water and loaded with frogs. Really pretty sad. The whole time we are there the girls are asking if they can please please please have a frog... (of course Thijs wanted one too), fortunately we talked them out of it. Next was the Goat Farm. They have about 500 goats and they are mainly there to produce goats milk. We were asked the whole time if they could have one for a pet, but luckily we can't have one in the apartment and the kids agreed. Up to the Nippon Koi Farm next. They breed the Koi and Luohan. The Asians are pretty serious about this hobby and when you are away on vacation you don't need to ask you neighbors to feed your prized possessions... you can drop them off at this farm as they have a Koi Hotel. Smaller ponds for just your Koi. Now the kids really had a taste for getting a pet... good for us they did not sell little aquariums so we came out without any Koi. After this the Fish Farm, where they have more than 200 species of ornamental fish. And... you guessed it... they even had a store that sold everything you would ever need to have a pet fish. So we ended up buying 3 little aquariums, 3 little beta fish in amazing colors, the food etc... very cool. We would have gone on to more farms, but we had to get the fish home.
