Surgery

Natalie got bitten by an insect in February. What started off as a spot like a mosquito bite ended in a huge spot, 5 inches in diameter, with a red line going into her armpit. She was on 2 antibiotics for 1 month and still the infection would not go away. The spot (on her forearm) had turned into a gumball size abscess. She had to have it surgically removed which we did after our spring break trip. Under general anesthesia the doctor removed the abscess and cleaned it all out (like an avocado milkshake he called it), packed it with gauze and left the wound open. We went back a few days later to remove the gauze and clean it out again. Now its just a matter of it healing from the inside out. She will not been able to swim until the wound is totally closed. The doctor wants to make sure there is no change it gets infected again.

Cheap Entertainment

We took Natalie (and her friend Kayla) and Thijs to this weird little place yesterday. A few ponds with a ton of little fish and a pond with prawns. For a few dollars you can sit and fish for prawns for 1 hour. I am not sure how many prawns you can keep. But for 10 dollars you get a tank, a little net and 5 of the fish you catch. The kids just fished and had fun playing around.
